Fried Chicken
Fried Chicken
Here is a basic recipe for fried chicken:
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs chicken pieces (legs, thighs, wings, breasts)
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions:
- Place the chicken pieces in a large bowl and cover with buttermilk. Let it soak in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large, deep frying pan or Dutch oven over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F.
- Remove the chicken from the buttermilk and allow any excess liquid to drip off. Coat the chicken pieces in the flour mixture, making sure they are evenly coated.
- Gently place the chicken in the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for 12-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and cooked through.
- Use a slotted spoon to remove the chicken from the oil and place on a wire rack to drain excess oil.
- Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce, mashed potatoes, and vegetables.
Note: The cooking time may vary depending on the size and thickness of the chicken pieces. Make sure the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F before serving.
